As many of you know, housing was one of the goals set out when the FC was first created. Initial plans were to buy a small house, but this idea was eventually rejected after seeing its tiny interior size, not to mention the fact that we still required money and FC points to purchase it in the first place!
After seeing the other houses, we've decided on purchasing a medium house in Gridania. The original price of 70~90 mil seemed rather exorbitant for a small FC like us…fortunately, the pricing changes spelled out here means that the price tag for the house we wish to buy will be around 27 million gil exactly four weeks from today.
Since I'm sure we already have that much between all of us, I don't foresee the gil cost to be a problem. "But wait, I never agreed to pay for this," you say! Not to worry, we're not expecting everyone to empty their life savings into this project, nor did we intend for them to. We will, however, be starting some X-primal sellruns to fill up the FC coffers - stay tuned for those in the near future!
Now to move on to the second point - the Free Company points! We need to be a rank 6 FC in order to gain the right to purchase land in the first place. This means we need approximately 150,000 FC points when the time comes…probably. So what should people be doing to earn FC points? Here are some ways:
• Completing any kind of quest, including daily reputation quests (contribution scales with level). • Completing a FATE (contribution scales with level). • Completing a treasure hunt. • Leveling any job. • Crafting any HQ item (level 1 items give the contribution same as 2-star crafts) • Gathering any HQ item • Completing a levequest (triple crafting turn-ins count triple!)
Levequests are in fact a great way to earn points, especially for people who already have most/all jobs leveled to max already. If you have the allowances, spend them on triple crafting turn-ins - each leve is basically worth a FATE contribution. So 100 allowances = 100 FATEs. Plus you get a nice chunk of pocket change for finishing them - especially considering the meager crafting costs these days. SO USE YOUR LEVES!
If you dont have this, I hate you.
If you have a 45 Armorer, there's an excellent and highly efficient leve in Mor Dhona that basically nets you 1500g and tasty mats that can be completed, from start to finish, in about 15 seconds. People interested in this should come talk to me directly for more information.
Here are some things that DON'T earn points: • Killing monsters • Completing any dungeon • Completing any guildhest • Completing any turn of coil • Completing any trial (primals) • Crafting NQ items • Gathering NQ items • Standing around doing nothing!
That about wraps it up for now. Direct questions about minor details to this thread, or to me in-game.
Awesome post on housing and such! I think I'm going to level Blacksmith very soon, then armorer. Also I need to start fating more again on my Dragoon, all of that should help with FC leveling. We do really need to start selling EX Primals though asap that will make some very fast gil. Thanks for getting all the information together Eri!
I'm really, really happy with how the Bakery turned out. Business has been up-and-down, customers are fickle, but I think it's safe to say that everything has been a huge overall success. If my calculations are correct, we've earned 22M so far (Not all to Donut members, though).
I plan on contributing gil eventually but I'd rather wait until we are nearly ready to purchase the house. I know you guys said that I'm not required to contribute but when we have the house, I'll be using it as much as everyone else. Plus, I have more gil now than I can even spend and it wouldn't have been possible without my fellow bakers! I'll pledge half the gil I've earned from the bakery to our house (So far, I've gotten 3M).
In our off-time, I'll be grinding my Leatherworker from 1-50, using my Leves and I'll start doing Beastman dailies to help get our FC points up. These are things I've been wanting to do anyway.
